Padlocks for bicycle rental at Duinrell

Welcome to Duinrell, where a big green frog welcomes you with open arms. Our account manager, Justine, had the opportunity to visit the most famous holiday park and water paradise on the Dutch coast. At this park, they use DX padlocks to secure the bicycles and go-karts available for rent!

For the bike rental at Duinrell, they were on the hunt for 500 padlocks, each with its own unique key," shares Rene from Mastermate Den Haag Zuid, a technical wholesaler and part of a group of seven closely cooperating family businesses known as Mastermate.

"The main criterion was to ensure that all the locks had distinct keys, so there's no chance of using one key for multiple bikes," he continues.

To fulfill this requirement, Rene reached out to several suppliers for these padlocks. When asked why he ultimately opted for DX padlocks, he replies:

Bicycle and go-kart rental at Duinrell

Duinrell is famous for its exceptional setting, right in the heart of nature and along the Dutch coastline. To explore the area, they offer about 1600 rental bikes, each equipped with its own padlock for security. Moreover, kids can have a blast maneuvering around the park with one of the 500 available go-karts.

During the winter months, approximately 100 dedicated employees keep things running like clockwork, while in the summer, an impressive team of 400 people goes all out to ensure families have the time of their lives!

The key element in this request was the 'keychange'.

Since the primary requirement for this request was distinctiveness, a relatively high keychange was crucial. The keychange of a padlock refers to the number of different key numbers within a production run. The higher the keychange, the lower the likelihood of having two identical keys in one location. The keychange is determined by the combination of the number of pins in the cylinder and the number of different notches on the key. A higher key bitting (the cuts on the key) results in more notches and thus a higher keychange.

The DX HS line padlocks ordered by Duinrell have a keychange of 625. This means the chance of two people from the same group having the same key is incredibly small.
