Energy saving is one of the measures that is high on the agenda due to climate change. Among other things this has repercussions on the development of window frames and therefore also on the associated hinges and locks.
In order to insulate better the glass has become increasingly thicker in recent years. As a result the space that remains for the installation of a window stay has become increasingly smaller. This created the need for a narrower mounting base. This is the reason why we have adapted our DX® Window stay swivel SKG **. By narrowing the mounting base for the frame wood, our window stay SKG ** with short lever can now be used on frames with a depth from 32 mm.
Challenge accepted
It was a challenge to ensure that the new model with less mounting surface could still pass the SKG test. Dulimex has developed the renewed model in collaboration with Wicor BV and the carpentry factory Carper. The experience of both parties in the carpentry industry was indispensable. Ultimately the manufacturer's input was decisive. This allowed the foot to be adjusted and at the same time kept the product strong and working properly. The end result is: a smaller product that can be used more widely and that has nevertheless retained the SKG ** certificate.
Can be used for both renovation and new construction
Another energy-saving measure that is often used in window frames, especially in renovation, is the draft strip. Window frames with an integrated draft frame are increasingly used in new buildings. The swing-away window stay can be mounted in both situations. We can supply pads for bridging a draft strip or draft frame. These connect seamlessly to the mounting base and are mounted with four wood screws. This is not only a practical but also an aesthetic solution. As a result, the mounting base of the window stay is completely aligned with the frame and does not stick out.
Complete protection of roof windows
The barrier bar is often used to secure roof windows, this prevents a burglar from climbing in. To make the roof window completely safe we recommend mounting the DX® Swing-away window stay SKG **. This is sometimes neglected because the space between the frame and the barrier bar is often too small to fit a standard SKG window stay. With our window stay this is a thing of the past. The minimum space required between frame and barrier bar is only 135 mm; this is sufficient for the proper functioning of this type of SKG window stay.
Back in time
The first model DX® Swing-away window stay SKG **, was launched in 2012. This model required an opening space of only 180mm to function. When barrier bars were used the opening space for the window stay turned out to be too small. Based on this need a new model was developed in 2017 with only 140 mm required opening space. At the time this was the shortest SKG-approved window stay on the market. This new model has now been developed based on the need for application on narrow frames.
