In the fight against the Corona virus, we sometimes have to act quickly and we are happy to contribute to that. That became clear again when last week a former penitentiary institution in Tilburg had to be converted into a shelter for sick homeless people. A strong example of collaboration between the Central Government Real Estate Agency (RVB), contractors and suppliers.
On Thursday afternoon 19th March the RVB received a question from the Municipality of Tilburg and the Central and West Brabant Safety Region, whether it had space available for emergency shelter. There had to be as many shelter places as possible for sick homeless people who just like the elderly are a risk group in these times of the Corona virus. After the temporary availability of a rented gymnasium, the former penitentiary institution in Tilburg was subsequently prepared for even more reception places. A total of 120 rooms that will be ready for use in the 1st week of April.

Our partner DESTIL was brought in for the hinges and locks. Among other things, the request was made for profile cylinders for the entrance doors to the rooms.
Jan Klarenbeek of DESTIL explains: "We immediately scaled up and looked at the possibilities. My colleague Willie Bekkers looked at the most interesting supplier with the most flexible options to be able to switch quickly. Dulimex turned out to be the most interesting party. The 132 cylinders (keyed alike) were delivered by DESTIL to the PI in Tilburg around noon the next day so that the contractor hired by the government could finish his job on time. A great example of winning together”.
Why keyed alike half euro profile cylinders?
In this project keyed alike half euro profile cylinders 35-10 were chosen. The employees of the Dutch Community Health Service “GGD” and the general practitioner can easily and quickly enter all rooms with a few keys with the same key number to provide care to the patient. In addition the door of the reception room can only be locked and unlocked from outside the room by the half euro profile cylinder. This is to prevent a sick patient from leaving his room undesirably.
