Most innovative anti-burglary product of 2022
The Exceptor® doorblocking system earned the coveted title of the most innovative PKVW (Dutch Police Hallmark Secure Living) product of 2022 during the Safe Living Day event, organized by the Center for Crime Prevention and Safety (Centrum voor Criminaliteitspreventie en Veiligheid). Both the general public and the expert jury had to vote. The jury was unanimous in selecting the Exceptor®, and the Exceptor® doorblocking system also secured the majority of public votes! In response to this prestigious recognition, the CCV (Center for Crime Prevention and Safety) produced this fantastic video for us.

A home robbery is considered one of the most invasive forms of criminality and insecurity, according to the police. Exceptor® doorblocking system is designed to enhance residents' (of all age groups) sense of safety and provide them with the opportunity to call the emergency number if needed.
The Exceptor® doorblocking system prevents a potential home invader from opening the front door when it's slightly ajar. This innovative solution not only prevents theft of valuable belongings but also protects unsuspecting residents from potential psychological harm.
How does the Exceptor® work?
Ensure it's safe
Just like crossing the road safely, opening the door with a secure feeling is essential. Before opening, you check to ensure it's safe.
The Exceptor® is a specialized system mounted behind the front door in the floor. If an unexpected visitor arrives, you can easily activate the release button with your foot, a walking stick, or any other tool, causing the blocking pin to engage, making it impossible for the door to open fully. You can then communicate with the visitor knowing they can't force their way inside. Once you verify that it's safe, you simply push the blocking pin back to open the door.

The development of the Exceptor®
The Exceptor® was born out of a crucial need to address the destructive aftermath of home invasions. Often, the forced or even worse, broken-off doorguards caused considerable damage and trauma at the site of the incident, resulting in the loss of valuable belongings and an overwhelming experience for the residents.
The brilliant idea for the Exceptor® originated a few years ago at a dutch lumber yard. After witnessing the need for countless door repairs following home robberies involving traditional door limiters, they came up with the concept of a floor-installed door blocking system.
By firmly anchoring the Exceptor® in the floor, its effectiveness in thwarting home robberies is significantly heightened. The intruder is halted right at the door, preventing them from gaining entry, and thus sparing the door, frame, and, most importantly, the residents from the devastating impact of a home robbery.
Exceptor® vs the traditional doorchain or -guard
Easy to operate
The traditional (SKG) doorguard is a good solution for preventing home robberies. However, due to its positioning and the actions required for operation, not everyone is capable of effectively using it. In contrast, the Exceptor®, being mounted in the floor, is easily accessible for residents of all age groups, making it effortless to operate.
The traditional doorchain or -guard is not applicable in all situations
It is quite common to encounter situations where the door configuration does not permit the installation of a traditional doorguard. As a result, securing against home robberies might be overlooked, leading to an undesirable situation with significant consequences.
Situations where a traditional doorchain or -guard is difficult or impossible to install and where the Exceptor® provides a solution include:
- Plastic (UPVC) frames
- The door is not aligned or too deep within the doorframe
- Front doors as wide as the hallway; no room for a traditional doorchain or -guard
- Three-point locking system: the possibility that the screws for the doorguard hinder the smooth functioning of the system
- Narrow door frames: In cases where the door frame is too narrow, it may not be possible to securely attach a traditional doorchain or -guard

Frequently asked questions about Exceptor®
- I have a crawl hatch to access the space under my house. Can I apply the Exceptor®?
Exceptor® can be easily applied to both wooden and stone crawl space hatches without any issues. If desired, you can add a wooden block underneath the crawl space hatch to raise it, but this is not mandatory.
- I have a tiled floor. Can I use Exceptor®?
Exceptor® can be installed on any type of flooring. To achieve a seamless finish on a tiled floor, we provide the Voidex, which allows the Exceptor® to be recessed into the floor without compromising the appearance of your tiles or wooden floor.
- I have underfloor heating. Can I use Exceptor®?
If the underfloor heating extends to the front door, Exceptor® cannot be used. However, if the underfloor heating is not present at the front door, such as in the case of a crawl space hatch, Exceptor® can be applied without any issues.
